I recall when I was barely generating $50,000 in sales each year. When customers didn’t buy for me, I constantly blamed them. These clients seemed disrespectful and unappreciative of my time and efforts, in my opinion. But then I had an awakening, which changed my views, my motives for working, and gave me a new outlook on life. Instead of listening to negative news, I started reading and listening to audiobooks in my car.
I read numerous books in a span of months and began to feel different. This new thought process influenced my everyday actions, and I began going to the gym, doing yoga, reading, appreciating people, being aware, meeting new people with enthusiasm, writing thank you cards to my clients, and developing my selling skills and product knowledge. I remember having to buy new clothes twice in the same year because my waistline changed from 44″ to 40″ and then to 36″. I’d never felt that good, vibrant, and alive before. I’m not sure why I stopped consuming junk food and began eating more vegetables, omega-3 oils, sprouts and proteins. My new best friends, my books, were transforming me from the inside out, and I loved it.
My biggest anxiety as a salesperson was asking for the sale, but it rapidly vanished when I began acting enthusiastically in front of all clients. I went through many failures, rejections, discouragements, and humiliations before discovering a new approach of selling. Positive thinking and planning raised my income many times over, and I obtained this tremendous rise in my income not because I became a better salesperson, but because I put more life and animation into whatever I said to my clients.
Yes, I was excited to share all of the projects with my clients, and excitement can be contagious!
The trick to selling boils down to one thing… Talk to more people!!
